Building on UP Baguio’s long-standing commitment to regional development and innovation, SILBI, derived from the Filipino term silbi, meaning “service” or “utility,” was established in 2023 through a collaborative initiative between UP Baguio and DOST-PCIEERD. The project is designed as a two-year initiative to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the Cordillera region. Following the initial period, SILBI seeks long-term sustainability by securing funding for institutionalization.
SILBI’s physical space, the SILBI Center, is located on Level 5 of the Himnasyo Amianan Building at UP Baguio and is equipped with facilities to support its diverse activities. As a university-based TBI, SILBI seeks to integrate sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship into local ventures across the Philippines, particularly in Cordillera. It plays a vital role in supporting the creative industries and science innovation sectors by offering physical spaces and comprehensive business development services.
SILBI primarily supports startups, MSMEs, and a few university-based research and spin-offs within the region. By leveraging UP Baguio’s academic resources and funding from different sources, SILBI aims to drive regional innovation, entrepreneurial growth, and sustainability while promoting the region’s rich cultural identity.
Our vision is to be the leading driver of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Cordillera region, specifically within the creative industries and science innovation sectors. By fostering a hub for sustainable innovation and cultural promotion, we aim to generate a long-term impact on incubatees, the university, and the broader community.
Our mission is to support the growth of startups, MSMEs, and university-based research and spin-offs within the creative industries and science innovation sectors by maximizing our human, social, and organizational capitals, all unified and strengthened by our intellectual capital.
As a university-based TBI focused on creative industries and science innovation, we are committed to Cultural Promotion, Innovation, Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, Collaboration, and Industrial Relevance.
